The Paul Ricard track in the South of France was on the paper the ideal circuit to show the evolution and improvement of the AC Motorsport team on the track and on the technical side.
During the first day of practices, Stéphane Perrin, Mathieu Detry and David Dermont showed the potential of the Audi RS3 LMS TCR #188 with a promising pace during all the simulations stints, setting fast and constant lap times. Mathieu confirmed this feeling by a third consecutive 2nd place in qualifications, only 68 tenth of second of the best TCR/TCE time!
At the start of the race, the three drivers got the jump on the pole sitting car and, with only two hours left to run, had pulled two laps clear of the rest of the field. Issues with the Audi’s rear left wheel though forced two unscheduled pit stops, a delay that ultimately dropped the Belgian team to third behind the two Autorama cars.
The 24H Series will resume for round 4 on May 22nd and 23rd with the 12H Hockenheim.
Really proud of the team's work this time, everything was perfect!
